International Ice And Snow Sculputre Festival To Open In Moscow

Moscow's All-Russian Exhibition Centre will host a festival of snow and ice sculpture, "Blizzard -2002", from December 23rd to January 27th. The festival will be opened on December 23rd. The exhibition centre will be decorated with 20 ice sculptures, including a "talking" head reciting the Pushkin poem "Ruslan and Lyudmila," a small replica of the Ivan the Great bell in the Kremlin, which will be rung, and an ice Tsar's cannon that will fire real shots. Visitors can expect to see folklore shows featuring actors from the stage and circus, Russian wandering minstrels and other traditional figures of the festive season, some in spectacular disguises. There will also be fun competitions and a fair.
