New Year Tree Fixed On Baikal Lake Bottom

Divers in the Russian city of Irkutsk mounted a fir tree on the bottom of the Lake Baikal, the world’s oldest and deepest one. The New Year fir tree was mounted 50 meters from the shore.

The complex operation was carried out by divers from the Aqua-Eco enterprise that operates underwater. The divers departed from the shore in a boat, then they bound the tree to the anchor and attached a buoy to the tree’s top. The fir tree smoothly went down to the depth of 17 meters.

However, this was not the end of the operation. Guided by the signal buoy, the divers submerged under the water and decorated the tree, Russian news agency ITAR-TASS informs. Unfortunately, only Baikal underwater inhabitants will be able to appreciate the New Year present at its true value.
