A Russia-NATO conference devoted to the role of the military in the struggle against terrorism will take place in Moscow on December 9. According to the NATO press office, the conference is being organised by the Russian Ministry of Defense and will be a continuation of the first Russia-NATO conference on this subject, which took place in February 2002 in Rome.
High-level officials and military are expected to attend the conference as well as scientists and researchers. They will discuss ways of handling critical situations, the effectiveness of anti-terrorist training and instruction and ways of increasing cooperation in the area of security. NATO General Secretary Lord George Robertson and Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov are also expected to take part at the conference.
