President Putin pardoned 78 prisoners

In September, proceeding from pardoning applications Russian President Vladimir Putin pardoned 78 prisoners, the presidential press-service informed RIA Novosti. "The Russian Presidential Pardoning Department notes that 34 convicts are women serving prison sentences and the other 44 are men also serving prison sentences," the press-service reported.

All the pardoned women are aged 17-40, 30 of whom have children kept in orphanages at penitentiaries, others have infants living with their aged parents. Under the pardoning acts, 14 male convicts were released from custody, the rest received 1-2 year cuts in their prison terms.
