Olympic Assembly to Consider Moscow's Nomination as Candidate for Hosting Olympic Games 2012

The supreme body of the Olympic Committee of Russia, the Olympic Assembly, will consider the application of the Moscow authorities for nominating the Russian capital as a candidate for hosting Olympic Games 2012.

The application will be considered at the Assembly's regular session, the date of which will be set later, the Committee's press release says.

On October 29th, in compliance with the Olympic charter, the Committee received the decree of the Moscow government "On Nominating Moscow as a Candidate for Hosting the Games of XXX Olympiad in 2012", signed by Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov, and the similar decree of the capital's city duma, signed by its chairman Vladimir Platonov.

The submitted documents fully comply with the requirements for including the issue in the agenda of the Olympic Assembly, the Committee pointed out.
