Pop singer Katy Perry takes her husband's surname

The pop singer Katy Perry is planning to adopt her married surname of Brand.

The 'California Gurls' singer wed British comedian Russell Brand in October and is now thinking of taking on his second name because she loves it when people call her "Mrs. Brand".

When asked if she would take her husband's name, Katy replied: "I am, actually. When people try to get my attention, like if I'm at an event or something like that, and they want special attention, they go, 'Mrs. Brand!' And I go shwoosh!", according to FemaleFirst.co.uk.

Appearing on The Ellen Degeneres Show this Wednesday, newlywed Katy reveals she's "in the process" of changing her name to that of new hubby Russell Brand. In fact, she's already trying out her new branding at various events and parties.

Mrs. Brand is so secure in her marriage, she isn't fretting over Helen Mirren's crush on her husband. Helen, who co-stars with Russell in the upcoming film remake Arthur, told Access Hollywood this week that she is "the proud owner of a pair of Russell's yellow underpants," Celebuzz reports.
