The 4th Petersburg Design Biennale Modulor-2003 will open in the Marble Hall of the Russian Ethnography Museum on Saturday.
The contest exhibition of Petersburg designers and their colleagues from other Russian cities, the CIS and foreign countries will be the central Biennale event, the press service of the Russian Ethnography Museum said.
The exposition in the Marble Hall will feature the recent works by individual designers and design teams. Both renowned designers and students of artistic-industrial institutes will participate in the exhibition. Professional and student works will be awarded in 11 categories.
The Biennale programme includes a research and practical conference "The Time of Design". The conferees will speak about the newest trends in industrial and graphic design. A series of design exhibitions and artistic events will be held in other exposition centres in St. Petersburg during Modulor-2003.
The Biennale will close on November 9.
Modulor has been held in St. Petersburg since 1997. Its organisers are the St. Petersburg State Artistic-Industrial Academy and the municipal culture committee. The Modulor exhibition programme has Russia's National Prize in the design sphere.
