International symposium Nobel Laureates in Economics opens in St. Petersburg today

The international symposium Nobel Laureates in Economics and Russian Economic Schools opens today in St. Petersburg. Sorokin-Kondratyev International Institute President Yuri Yakovets told Rosbalt that the symposium will take place at St. Petersburg State University.

He also said that two books were published in the run-up to the symposium - Nobel Laureates in Economics: The View from Russia, which includes 27 Nobel lectures on economics and the book Economic Crises: Theory, Tendencies and Perspectives, which includes the ideas of the Russian economics schools.

Yakovets said that the 'Russian book market is flooded with translations of the works of Western economists, and ideas which aren't always applicable to Russian reality. The main goal of the symposium is the real-life exchange of opinions and ideas of Russian and foreign economists.' The Sorokin-Kondratyev International Institute, St. Petersburg State University, Petersburg State University of Economics and Finance, the Leontyevsky Center, and the Russian Academy of Sciences are organizing the symposium, which ends September 18.
