The China Week opens today in St. Petersburg, Russia's second largest city. A representative Chinese delegation led by Chinese State Council Information Office Minister Zhao Qizheng is heading for St. Petersburg to participate in it.
The 300th anniversary of St. Petersburg celebrated in 2003 is not only an all-Russia but also a worldwide event, Zhao Qizheng stressed before leaving Beijing. The China Week in St. Petersburg will help develop cultural exchanges and friendly relations between the two countries, said the Chinese representative.
The programme of the Week includes a concert by the Chinese State Orchestra of Folk Music, a show of Chinese national dresses and decorations and a circus performance.
The Chinese delegation will also take part in the seminar of Russian and Chinese journalists on the media's role in modern society in Moscow.
