The Ulyanovsk aircraft factory Aviastar presented its new model Tu-204-300 yesterday at the MAKS-2003 international aerospace exhibition, which is being held at the Zhukovsky airfield near Moscow from August 19 to 24.
The new model is unique. The Tu-204-300 is a modification of the Tu-240 with fuselage that is 6 metres shorter than the usual model. As a result the aircraft is capable of flying 11 thousand kilometres further and the plane could carry out a non-stop flight across the whole length of Russia. What is more, the plane will not only be used for long-distance flights but can also be used for short and middle-distance flights. The plane can seat up to 160 people, compared to the Tu-204 which can seat up to 210.
The airline Vladivostok-avia has already shown an interest in the new model. The first round of talks were held last week between the two companies and the next round of talks will take place at the exhibition in Zhukovsky.
