Russia to build nuclear-powered base on the Moon by 2035

Specialists at Russia's Academy of Cosmonautics design a nuclear-powered lunar base. According to representatives of the academy, the construction of the lunar may start in the near future, some time between 2030-2035. 

President of the Russian Academy of Cosmonautics, Igor Barmin, stated that Russia considers all aspects of building a lunar base. For the main structure of the complex, a variety of options can be used, including inflatable and transformable modules, he said, RT reports. 

Igor Barmin believes that one can deliver units of high prefabrication to the moon. The units will be able to produce nuclear power for the station. 

Nuclear power will be the main power of the lunar base, the President of the Russian Academy of Cosmonautics said. 

It was noted that the European Space Agency and Roskosmos plan a series of missions to the Moon to estimate possibilities for the construction of permanent settlements there.
