Russia to explore Arctic shelf in 15 years

It will be necessary to start exploring shelf of Arctic seas in 10 to 15 years to maintain the level of production of natural resources in Russia, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov declared opening a meeting of the government's marine board today. "Corresponding measures should be taken today in order to start implementing them tomorrow to provide Russia with natural resources in 10 to 15 years," the Prime Minister said. According to him, some steps in this direction are being made already. Kasyanov stressed that the exploration of the shelf should be made in accordance with a plan not in a hurry in 10 to 15 years.
