Most Russians do not anticipate any significant improvement in their living standards in the near future. This was the result of a survey of 1500 Russians carried out by sociologists from the agency of regional political research on August 21-25. About a third of respondents (28%) said they do not expect their generation to witness any positive changes in their lifetime. 21% expect some improvement within the next 6-10 years while another 21% expect this improvement within the next 10-15 years.
On the other hand, 13% said they expect living standards to rise noticeably within 3-5 years and 4% say this will even be possible within the next 1-2 years.
11% of respondents were extremely pessimistic, saying that life in Russia will never improve. 4% failed to answer the question.
