Vladimir Putin signs state service law

President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin has signed a federal bill "On The State Service System In The Russian Federation", reports the presidential press service.

The state-service system bill was passed by the Russian Parliament's lower house, i.e. the State Duma, April 25, 2003 and subsequently approved by the Federation Council, i.e. the upper house, May 14.

This document sets forth legal and organizational foundations of the state-service system, as well as those of the system for controlling the national state-service establishment.

The law offers a new definition of the Russian state-service system, stipulating all the main principles of its establishment and operation.

According to this law's provisions, the state-service system comprises state civil service, military service and law-enforcement service.
