According to a decree Russian Premier Mikhail Kasyanov has signed to divide responsibilities between his deputies, Deputy Prime Minister Galina Karelova will be supervising social demographic and migration policy and labour relations.
She will also be overseeing social, medical and pension insurance, the system of social guarantees, pension provision, privileges and payments, and social protection, as well as general and professional education, state youth policy, healthcare, culture and physical culture, sports and tourism, and compatriots' affairs abroad.
Karelova will be responsible for the government's interaction with trade union organisations, public movements and associations, religious organisations, and mass media. She will also be overseeing the work of the Russian Tripartite Commission on Regulation of Social and Labour Relations.
In this framework, she will be coordinating the work of federal executive bodies, instructing them, and controlling their activities.
