Local oil transportation company Baltnefteprovod admitted 16,921,000 tonnes of oil into its pipeline system in the first quarter of 2003. The company told Rosbalt that 3,347,000 tonnes of this oil was transported to the Primorsk port in the Leningrad Region (up from 2,689,000 in the same period last year), with the rest being transported to the Kirishi and Yaroslavl refineries, and to Belarus.
Baltnefteprovod is a subsidiary of state-owned pipeline company Transneft. In 2002 it had receipts of 4.1 billion roubles (approximately USD 130 million) and piped 68,970,157 tonnes of oil.
