Rally in support for Putin proves well organized

A procession and rally in support for President Putin and his reformist efforts, timed to the 1st anniversary of Mr. Putin’s inauguration, passed off yesterday in Moscow. The whole event was far from spontaneous. Apparently, it was a well-organized and well-subsidized action. The participants were marching in regular columns. After the rally, held in the Vasilyevski Spusk near St. Basil’s cathedral, they broke up also in a pretty organized way, to the music of the Russian anthem. It was impressive enough. Yet, the organizers, the Walking Together youth movement, patently failed to gather the declared 10,000. The participants were provided with 3-coloured T-shits representing the colours of the Russian flag – red, blue, and white. Youth from Kursk, Ryazan, Yaroslavl, St.Peterburg and many other large Russian cities turned out.
