Chairman of the State Duma /the Lower house of the Russian parliament/ Gennadi Seleznyov and Moldova's President Vladimir Voronin held a meeting in the State Duma on Monday as part of the Moldovan President's visit to Russia. The parties raised the issues of Moldova's membership in the Russia-Belarus Union and the CIS Customs Union - the topics which, Seleznyov said referring to Mr Voronin, are being debated in the Moldovan parliament at the moment. Moldovan parliamentary delegation will be present as observer at a regular sitting of the Russia-Belarus parliamentary assembly to be held in Grodno, Belarus, said Mr Seleznyov. Moldovan delegates are certain to take part in the St.Petersburg sitting on April 19 as observers too. And one does not rule out that Moldova "will be an active member taking part in all our parliamentary structures." Integration issues will come up for government and president's talks in the near future, Mr Seleznyov said. Economic problems have become a burning issue for Moldova. "The country whose president Voronin has become is in deplorable state. Vladimir Voronin is well aware of the fact that the electorate which supported him and the Moldovan Communist party at the parliament election have expressed their protest against the policy Voronin's predecessors were pursuing," said Gennadi Seleznyov.
