The U.S. ambassador to Russia has said that the senior Russian official in custody in New York since January would be allowed to leave the country if he decides to give himself up to Switzerland, which seeks his extradition. So far the case of Pavel Borodin, state secretary of the Union of Russia and Belarus accused of money laundering, remains under the jurisdiction of the U.S. legal system, Ambassador James Collins said during a Friday internet conference. Borodin has already offered to go to Switzerland, Interfax cites Collins as saying.
