Russia supports the development of the co-sponsorship of the Middle East peace process. The Information Department of Russia's Foreign Ministry reports that this position was announced at today's negotiations between Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Vasily Sredin and Israeli Ambassador to Russia Natan Meron. The parties discussed the problems of the Palestinian-Israeli relationships. Sredin pointed out, "in the current circumstances both sides should show maximum restraint and make real steps to stop the chain reaction of violence and to achieve normalization of the situation as soon as possible." Russia emphasizes the importance of intensifying international assistance in the resolution of the crisis and taking practical measures to prevent escalation in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, RBC announces. Russia is ready to continue the cooperation aimed at resolving the conflict and developing the peace process in the Middle East on the basis of the Madrid agreements, the respective resolutions of the UN Security Council, and other agreements and understandings, the Foreign Ministry's statement underlines.
