The mechanisms for repayment of Russia's debt to Germany in being thought over

The Russian government thinks highly of the agreements on mechanisms for repayment of Russia's debt to Germany within the framework of the Paris Club, which were achieved at the negotiations between Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov and German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder in Berlin. Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Kudrin told this to reporters yesterday. He pointed out that a concrete mechanism is already being discussed and elaborated on by the government. "This initiative has a future; it can be implemented in the interests of Russia, Germany, and possibly, other countries too," Kudrin stated. He underlined that the media had sometimes misinterpreted the idea of these agreements, RBC reports."Nobody intends to give away shares in large companies, such as Gazprom, to repay the debts. The idea is that if Russia finds a way to repay its debts to Germany, these funds could be reinvested in Russian companies that our German partners are interested in," Kudrin emphasized.
