Prospects for Russian trawlers' getting access to the territorial waters of Iceland were discussed in Moscow on Friday by Yevgeni Nazdratenko, chairman of the Russian State Fishing Committee, and Halldor Asgrimsson, Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Trade of Iceland. The sides looked into matters of implementing decisions of the first mixed Russia-Iceland Fishing Commission, which gathered for a sitting in March 2001. The two spoke of issuing to Iceland quotas for fishing cod in the exclusive economic zone of Russia and in the adjoining Russian-Norwegian portion of Spitsbergen.
