US precision bombs own troops

The result is reported to be two dead and at least 20 wounded among the US armed forces aiding the anti-Talban alliance. The casualties among the Afghans have yet to be confirmed.

Air strikes were requested after the anti-Taliban militia came under mortar fire in an assault on Kandahar. Either the coordinates were wrongly given, or wrongly understood by the bomber crew.

The bomb that fell on the troops was a 900-kilogram satellite-guided bomb, a so-called “precision weapon."

The Taliban must be thinking, with friends like these, who needs enemies?
