Tender for television frequency postponed

A tender for the right to broadcast on the television frequency earlier used by Darial-TV was postponed until March 5, 2003, the Russian Media Ministry reported. The source explained that the tender was postponed as there was no quorum in the Federal Tender Commission due to the illness of some members of the commission, the absence of another member and urgent business trips for two more members of the commission due to the preparation for a referendum in Chechnya.

The license of Darial-TV expired on October 31, 2002. In July 2002, the Federal Tender Commission recommended the Media Ministry not to prolong the license due to some violations committed by the television company, such as the non-usage of many frequencies specified in the license and alcohol commercials. As a result, the Media Ministry did not prolong the license on August 29, 2002.
