Russia's state-of-the-art Katran helicopters to be used in battles in Syria

Russian aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov will take on board state-of-the-art deck-based Ka-52K Katran helicopters. The new choppers are said to be used in military operations in Syria in October 2016 - January 2017.

The new helicopter was designed on the base of the renowned Ka-52 Alligator. The design has had a number of changes: folding bladesб reinforced landing gear and additional anti-corrosion treatment.

The new helicopter was designed to be placed on type Mistral aircraft carriers

To place the new choppers on board the Admiral Kuznetsov, a few changes are expected to be made. Originally, it was planned to base 50 aircraft and helicopters on board the aircraft carrier: 26 naval aviation fighter planes MiG-29K/Su-27K; four Ka-27RLD helicopters; 18 Ka-27/Ka-29 and Ka-27PS choppers. At the moment, the cruiser carries 14 Su-33; two of Su-25UTG; ten naval MiG-29K and four MiG-29KUB. The appearance of Ka-52K will make Su-25 unnecessary.

The use of the Ka-52K Katran will make good publicity for the machine, primarily, for Egypt. Noteworthy, the Mistral vessels, which France refused to deliver to Russia, were eventually sold to Egypt.
