Bus crashes in Peru's southern Andes

A bus crash in Peru's southern Andes has killed 14 passengers, including two Lithuanian tourists.

The driver lost control of the vehicle on a stretch of highway near Cuzco late Monday, a popular tourist destination, said a police statement e-mailed to The Associated Press. The cause of the crash is still unknown.

Bus crashes are common in Peru's Andes and jungle, claiming hundreds of lives every year on narrow and rocky roads plagued by reckless drivers and poorly maintained vehicles.
