Bus crashes in central Pennsylvania

A New York-bound bus that largely serves the Chinese community swung off a highway and crashed in central Pennsylvania early Sunday, two people dead and 32 injured.

Investigators were having difficulty piecing together what happened because most of the passengers were Asian and did not speak English, state Trooper Terry Jordan said.

The bus had 35 people on board when it crashed before dawn, state police said. The injured range in age from a toddler to a 50-year-old.

Yuk Sau Wong of OK Travel Bus Inc. in New York said the bus left Ohio just after midnight. She said the bus line mainly serves the Chinese community but also carries other passengers.

One victim was listed in serious condition and seven were in guarded condition, Clearfield Hospital nursing supervisor Ann Langenbacher said.

Authorities declined comment on the cause of the accident.

"We have loss of life here, we have a major crash, and anytime you have a crash of this nature, obviously we want to make sure we have all the facts in place," state police Trooper Jamie Levier said at a news conference. "We still have a lot of questions."
