A parked car exploded near a Shiite mosque in the southern city of Hillah on , killing at least five people and wounding nearly three dozen.
The blast occurred just after 9 p.m. near a market outside the mosque, provincial police said, giving the casualty toll.
Hillah, a Shiite city about 95 kilometers (60 miles) south of Baghdad, has been struck by some of the war's deadliest bombings, including a double suicide attack on March 6 that killed 194 people.
