A double decker Serbian bus crashed into a barrier on a road in Hungary indicating the maximum height allowed for vehicles Saturday, killing one person and injuring at least 17 others.

The roof of the bus was torn open as the bus passed through the barrier.

Two of the injured were taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, while three others were seriously hurt, National Rescue Service spokesman Pal Gyorfi said on Info Radio.

There were 44 people on the bus, including 41 passengers and 3 drivers, a fire department spokesman said.

According to a sign on the bus, it was traveling from Belgrade, the capital of Serbia-Montenegro, to Dortmund, Germany, reports AP.
