Russian Military Experts Believes Anti-Iraq Coalition Troops Will Not Begin Directly Storming Baghdad

The troops of the anti-Iraq coalition will not begin directly storming Baghdad, but will besiege it. The opinion was voiced by ex-deputy chief of staff of the Russian Armed Forces Army General Makhmut Gareyev and Russian ex-deputy defence minister Colonel-General Valery Mironov at a press conference in RIA Novosti on Friday.

It would be "tactically incorrect" for the coalition troops "to enter Baghdad, a city with a 6-million population, where practically every man can put up an armed resistance," Gareyev believes. The coalition "will besiege the Iraqi capital separating it from the outside world," the experts suppose. For this purpose they are being "reinforced with a 120,000 corps.

The USA has "a sufficient experience of setting up large groups far from the country and its main bases," Mironov pointed out. The most serious problem for the coalition in case Baghdad is besieged will be "great numbers of refugees leaving the Iraqi capital", the experts believe.
