Yasser Arafat informs UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan of the situation on the Palestinian territories

Yasser Arafat, head of the Palestinian national administration, had a telephone conversation with UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan Friday during which he informed the latter of the situation on the Palestinian territories.

According to the Palestinian information agency WAFA, the conversation took place on Kofi Annan's initiative. In the evening of the same day, the Palestinian leader met in Ramallah with Miguel Angel Moratinos, EU coordinator in the Middle East, and Terry Larsen, UN Secretary-General's envoy in the Middle East. During the meeting they also discussed the situation on the Palestinian territories.
