Nine Chechen Fighters Killed, 15 Injured In Argun Fighting

Nine Chechen fighters have been killed and 15 wounded in a fighting against federal forces in Argun, reports the united press-centre of the FSB, defence and interior ministries. As a Russian reconnaissance unit, performing an assignment in the railway station Argun at 10:00 p.m. Thursday, bumped into a Chechen fighter group, two of the latter were killed while the rest took up an all-round defence position. As a result of the fighting which continued until 06:30 a.m. Friday, seven fighters were killed and 15 wounded. Three automatic explosive devices, 25 electrical detonators and a radio station were discovered on the bodies of the dead. Federal casualties have not been reported.
