Russia unveils purpose of missile attack on Vinnytsia in Central Ukraine

Russian Defence Ministry makes official comment on Vinnytsia missile strike

On July 14, Russia launched Kalibr high-precision sea-based missiles to strike the building of the garrison House of Officers in the city of Vinnytsia in Central Ukraine, the Russian Defence Ministry said.

At the time of the attack, a meeting of the command of the Ukrainian Air Force with representatives of foreign arms suppliers was being held at this military facility to discuss the supplies of another batch of aircraft and weapons to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The participants of the meeting also discussed repairs of the Ukrainian aviation fleet, the Russian military department said.

The participants of the meeting were destroyed as a result of the attack, the ministry said.

Earlier, RT editor-in-chief Margarita Simonyan reported that the Russian forces targeted a military facility in Vinnytsia, where nationalist fighters were gathering.

Ukrainian officials said that 23 people were killed in the Vinnytsia attack.

Russia started its special operation to demilitarise and denazify Ukraine began on February 24.
