Final version of Chechen constitution approved

The constitutional commission of Chechnya has approved a final version of the draft law of that republic of Russia. Its last session was held on Monday under the chairmanship of Akhmad Kadyrov, head of the Chechnya administration.

The draft constitution says that Chechnya is "a full-fledged member of the Russian Federation". Kadyrov has insisted that the words Chechnya "is a sovereign constituent state of Russia" be removed from text.

Under the constitution, the Chechen parliament will be made up of 61 deputies and adopt all decisions by two thirds of the votes.

Now the draft constitution will have to pass examination by the Chechen Justice Ministry and then be coordinated by the federal organs of power. After that the document will be passed to referendum.
