American Servicemen Evacuated from Iraqi Town of Hit

Iraqis protested against a US-led weapons search
A US Army unit has been evacuated from the Iraqi town of Hit, which is situated 200 kilometers to the west of Baghdad. The evacuation has been caused by clashes between American servicemen and the local population. This was reported by French media outlets at the site of the incident.

A group of armed Iraqis attacked a US-controlled post on Wednesday. Two American military men were wounded as a result of the attack. The situation in the town of Hit became very tense after a mass demonstration that had been conducted by the townsfolk to protest against US-led weapons search in the town.
