One of the two teenagers detained for planning to kill the principal at a Stockholm high school was remanded in custody Tuesday for making serious threats.

The prosecutor had called for the boy, 16, to be held on both threat and murder plotting charges, but the Sodertorn District Court ruled there was not enough evidence to support the murder plan allegations, Swedish news agency TT reported.

The boy's lawyer, Thomas Wielander, told The Associated Press the court decision would be appealed.

On Friday, the boy, and another boy, who is 17, were arrested on suspicion of conspiring to murder the principal and janitor, as well as students, at the Enskede Gards Gymnasium on the southern outskirts of Stockholm.

According to several Swedish media, the boys were allegedly inspired by the 1999 U.S. school shooting in Columbine, as well as by last week's shooting rampage in Finland, when an 18-year-old opened fire in his high school, killing eight other people and himself.

The TT news agency reported that the two boys had demanded copies of the school layout, but the report did not say to whom they put this demand. TT reported that, in making the demand, the boys had pointed at pictures of guns in weapon magazines and said they intended to use them to kill other students.

The 17-year old boy was released from custody and handed over to social services on the weekend, but is still under suspicion.
