New York police to question boyfriend of woman found dead in NYU faculty apartment

U.S. authorities are going to question the boyfriend of a woman whose body was found wrapped in a sheet in the bedroom of a New York University faculty apartment, an investigator said Tuesday.

Two roommates had reported a foul odor coming from the locked bedroom, police said.

The 20-year-old victim, an NYU faculty member's daughter, was identified as Boitumelo McCallum, said a law enforcement official who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the investigation is still under way.

The body was found Sunday night. The roommates said they last saw McCallum alive Wednesday.

The official said the boyfriend was believed to have been at a party at the apartment Wednesday night. Police believe McCallum died Thursday.

The cause of death had not been determined. An autopsy done Monday was inconclusive.

McCallum was a daughter of NYU professor Teboho Moja, who also has served as a policy analyst for the South African government, according to an NYU Web site.

NYU officials said Moja was out of the country.
