Czech Interior Minister Ivan Langer appointed a new chief of Czech police.

Oldrich Martinu, who has served as deputy police chief over the last five years, is replacing Vladislav Husak in the post.

Husak resigned as police chief in March after several media outlets criticized him for allegedly leaking classified information and having an affair with a member of the former Communist police.

Husak rejected the allegations, saying he was resigning because the media campaign against him was harming the reputation of the entire force. No charges have been brought against him.
