Czech president receives honorary doctorate from University of Innsbruck

Czech President Vaclav Klaus was presented with an honorary doctorate from the University of Innsbruck on Friday in recognition of his accomplishments as head of state since 2003.

Klaus, 65, was presented with the honorary degree in social and economic sciences "for service and accomplishments which represent the goals and ideals of the university," the school said in a statement, reports AP.

Klaus announced last month he plans to run for re-election to a second five-year term next year. He succeeded former anti-communist dissident and playwright Vaclav Havel in the mostly ceremonial Czech presidential post.
