In a statement, Ursula Plassnik called the Israeli bombing on Sunday of the Lebanese town of Qana, which killed at least 56 civilians, most of them women and children, "an inexpressible sorrow inflicted on defenseless people."

Plassnik said European Union foreign ministers would discuss the situation on Tuesday and review the humanitarian aid effort, the AP reports.
