Czech Republic: police investigating death of chess player

Jessie Gilbert, 19, of Croydon,England, fell from her room on the eighth floor of the Labe Hotel in Pardubice early Wednesday, police said. She had been taking part in the Czech Open tournament in the town, which is about 100 kilometers (60 miles) east of Prague.

An autopsy was ordered, police spokeswoman Dana Dolanova said, but it was unclear when the results would be available, the AP reports.
