The 30-year-old pilot, who was not identified, took off from an airfield near the country's second-largest city, Kaunas, on a training flight, said Alvydas Sumskas, deputy director of Lithuania's Civil Aviation Association.

Kaunas is 130 kilometers (80 miles) northwest of Lithuania's border with Belarus, the AP reports.
