President Traian Basescu will travel to China next week for a three-day visit to strengthen trade and economic ties between the countries, his office said Friday.
Basescu was invited by Chinese President Hu Jintao to visit Beijing, and will meet political leaders and attend an economic forum, a statement said. He also will visit Shanghai to open the Romanian-Chinese Economic Forum.
During the March 27-29 visit, Basescu planned to meet with Jintao and China's top economic official Premier Wen Jiabao.
Basescu also planned to give a speech at a Beijing university on relations between the countries after Romania joins the European Union, scheduled for 2007, reports the AP.
