Jackie Chan makes plea for art-house movie scripts

Jackie Chan made a plea for art-house movie scripts Wednesday after picking up an award for one of his recent non-action ventures. "I just wanted to tell everyone that our company makes art-house movies apart from commercial movies. So I will consider any good scripts you have," Chan said, after receiving a Hong Kong critics prize for "Everlasting Regret," the life story of a Shanghai beauty who endures political and personal upheaval.

Chan's movie company, JCE Movies Ltd., helped produce the movie, with Chan serving as chief producer. He did not appear in the film, which starred Hong Kong pop star Sammi Cheng and actor Tony Leung Ka-fai. Chan, who made his name as an action star, has said he wants to be taken more seriously as an actor and has complained about the lack of variety in his Hollywood roles, reports the AP.
