Three people detained for questioning over Poland’s roof collapse

Three people have been detained for questioning by prosecutors investigating the roof collapse that killed 65 people in Poland last month, police said Tuesday.

Katowice police spokesman Jacek Pytel refused to give details on the investigation, but national police chief Marek Bienkowski told the news agency PAP the three suspects were board members of the company that owned the exhibition hall.

They were first people detained in the ongoing investigation.

The roof of the hall collapsed Jan. 28 during an international racing pigeon fair.

No cause for the roof collapse has been given yet, but authorities believe a thick layer of snow and ice may have played a role, reports the AP.
