China's Foreign Ministry is sending a team to Pakistan to help deal with the aftermath of the shooting deaths of three Chinese engineers, the government said Friday.

The three engineers and their Pakistani driver were shot to death Wednesday by unidentified gunmen on a road in Pakistan's southwest.

President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao "showed deep concern for the safety of the Chinese engineers in Pakistan" and demanded that Pakistani authorities catch the killers, the official Xinhua News Agency said.

"In order to have this case handled properly, the government sent the Foreign Ministry task force to help deal with the aftermath," the agency said. It didn't say what the task force would do, reports the AP.
