A school bus collided with a truck in northern Germany Thursday, killing at least three people and injuring a dozen others, police said.

The truck slid on snow-slicked roads into oncoming traffic at around 8 a.m. (0700GMT) and collided with the bus, killing three people, said Dieter Fischer, a police spokesman in nearby Coppenbruegge, south of Hanover.

It was not immediately clear whether those killed were school children. In addition to the dead, two people were seriously injured and another 10 were lightly injured in the accident, Hameln police spokesman Heinz Mikus told n-tv television.

Mikus said the road conditions became quite bad after a heavy snow began in the morning, reports the AP.
