Stress faced by Katrina evacuees "a recipe for suicide," experts say

With a newborn daughter, an autistic child and a fledgling music business, life was chaotic enough for Jerome "Slim Rome" Spears and fiancee Rachel Harris.

This week, in an Atlanta-area rental home hundreds of miles (kilometers) from the Big Easy, Spears fatally shot the 23-year-old Harris and severely wounded her 4-year-old son with a gunshot to the back of the head.

The couple's daughter, born amid the Katrina chaos, was unharmed physically. But at 5 months old, she is now an orphan.
