Afghan court sentenced to death two men kidnapping Italian aid worker

An Afghan court on Thursday sentenced to death two men after it found them guilty of kidnapping an Italian aid worker for three weeks this year, and murdering the son of an Afghan businessman.

Abdul Baset Bakhtyari, president of the National Security Court, said Temur Shah and two other accomplices were responsible for kidnapping CARE International worker Clementina Cantoni and abducting and killing the son of an Afghan businessman.

Shah and Haroom, another defendant who goes by one name, were sentenced to death after a one-day trial in the Kabul court. A third man, only known as Esat, received 20 years in prison, Bakhtyari said. He said the convicted men would appeal, reports the AP. I.L.
