Moscow ready to fully cooperate with Baghdad

Russia will cooperate with the new Iraqi government to be formed after Thursday's parliamentary elections, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Mikhail Kamynin said.

"Russia is ready for close cooperation with the new Iraqi administration and for comprehensive assistance to the process of normalization," he said.

"Official results of the ballot have not yet been published, but we would like to praise Iraqis for passing the main phase of the political process defined by UN Security Council Resolution 1546, despite the extremely difficult situation," Kamynin said.

"The elections end the transitional period," he underlined further on, according to Interfax.
